Important Announcement: It was just announced that restaurants can go to 75% as of 3/19/2021!! We are getting there!!
New York restaurants outside of New York City can operate at 75% capacity, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at a press conference Sunday.
Pending review from the state legislature, the new capacity limits will take effect March 19.
Late last week, state lawmakers curbed the governor’s emergency powers, scaling back Cuomo’s authority first enacted nearly a year ago at the start of the pandemic.
Cuomo said Sunday he is signing the bill limiting his emergency powers.
Several neighboring states have scaled-back capacity restrictions in restaurants. However, Friday the CDC released a new report finding strong evidence that indoor dining increases the chance of COVID-19 infection.
